Skills Workshops

We’re running a series of introductory skills workshops in the Elphick Space during the afternoons of Monday 25 - Friday 29 July, starting at 2pm. All are led by highly experienced professionals, who help you develop an interest in their subject.

Cost: £10 / £8

Monday 25 July @ 2pm
Unarmed Stage Fighting with Kaitlin Howard (2 hour session)
Kaitlin trained at the Bridge Theatre Training Company in Camden where she discovered a love for Stage Combat, which she now teaches as a fully qualified instructor. She has been a Fight Captain on many productions, is a professional actress and also provides Fight Co-ordination. Please visit for more details. (Book Tickets)

Tuesday 26 July @ 2pm
Improvisation for Writers and Actors with Tina Earl (2 hour session)
Tina worked as an actor, director and writer for many years in regional theatre, TV and film and the TIE movement. She taught acting, improvisation and writing at The Arden School of Theatre and The Performance Lab. Tina currently works for North West Playwrights as a dramaturge. (Book Tickets)

Clowning with Mark Winstanley (3 hour session)
Mark is a performer and teacher who co-runs Clown Lab, the only organisation in the North West dedicated to teaching theatre clowning. He has taught clown and play across the country and continues to develop his practice by training with some of the best teachers in this field. (Book Tickets)

Thursday 28 July @ 2pm
Group Singing with Judy Kent (2 hour session)
Judy studied singing at Chethams Music School and the Royal Northern College of Music. Professional work includes many musicals, recording work, summer seasons and pantomimes. Judy is a vocal lecturer at LIPA, Manchester Met School of Theatre and head of singing on the BA Hons in musical theatre course at the Arden Theatre School. (Book Tickets)

Friday 29 July @ 2pm
Mike is a qualified Iyengar yoga instructor and has been teaching classes for 4 years. He finds that this technique assists the individual in accuracies of alignment and centring, which is great for the performer and their voice as it focuses on posture.
